We specialize in providing the highest quality general and human resources management consultation services to leaders in business, government, and institutions. Much of our success can be attributed to our philosophy of performance, which we attempt to describe here:

  1. In addition to sheer brains and creativity, drive is what turns good performers into extraordinary performers–caring enough to persist long after others have quit and to attend to the small details. The faint of heart tend to regard this passion for producing total quality results as workaholism or perfectionism–we do not.

It is clear to us, often painfully, that the quest for top performance is costly. But we are also aware of the societal value and personal rewards of outstanding achievement, and we are therefore willing to bear this cost. We recruit and employ only high-energy people who are dedicated to upholding our standards of professional performance.

  2. We expect to provide the best service, and services to our clients. They respond to our commitment to service and quality by trusting us and recommending us to others. The organizations we serve are customarily better managed and more profitable than their competitors, and we are proud of that.

  3. Consulting firms may distinguish themselves in a variety of ways. We seek distinction through outdistancing our competitors on the dimensions of creative intelligence, integrity, responsiveness, sensitivity, and practicality.

Creative intelligence means, in part, that we approach every task, project, and assignment as new and unique. We do not re-package old work and try to pass it off as innovation. Creative generativity, as Thomas Edison noted, is often more a function of perspiration than inspiration and so we work hard to ensure our leadership in this dimension.

Integrity means that we tell the client the truth as we see it, no matter how unpleasant, and that we do not pander to comforting self-deceptions. What the client wants to hear is not always what is right to say. We also protect the resources of our client companies and make sure that we deliver outstanding value for the fees we charge.

Responsiveness means that we are ready, at any time of the day or night, to help. We do whatever it takes to enable the client to do his or her best. This means meeting all deadlines and promptly returning phone calls. It also means not making commitments that we cannot honor.

Sensitivity means that we listen attentively to what the client is telling us and that we remain alert to our own biases and preferences, so that they do not impede our performance. It also means that, before the fact, we think through the political implications of what we say and do. Finally, it means that we are tactful and diplomatic.

Practicality implies that we do not hide behind jargon in a misguided attempt to impress the client with a large technical vocabulary. Five-dollar terms of art, unanchored speculations, and cosmic musings have no business value and, therefore, are of no interest to us. Brainstorming is an important consultation activity but, even when our assignment is to teach others how to do it, brainstorming is not our ultimate objective. What we do must, directly or indirectly, improve the company's performance.

We do not try to be all things to all clients. While, in practice, we provide a wide range of services and products, we undertake only what we can do in an exemplary manner. We eschew additional revenues that would come at the expense of compromised performance standards. We know our niche and are resolved to stay in it.

  4. Our track record is exceptional and we intend to keep it that way. We go all out to keep our clients happy and to give them what they need. We are flexible and willing to run the extra mile, after the extra mile. Ours is a people-centered profession and we like helping others.
